Healthcare Property specialists, Christie & Co. has released its Pharmacy Market Review for 2023. The report provides a range of topics relating to the UK pharmacy business market, including market composition, employment challenges, dispensing and services activity, online pharmacy, and the finance landscape.

Much of the conversation for Q1 centered around a significant number of closures, notably: Lloyds Pharmacy closed 237 in Sainsbury’s supermarkets and Boots UK announced its plans to close 300 pharmacies.

Whilst a small number will, no doubt, be sold to other operators, it is inevitable that closure numbers in 2023 will be far greater, which will put pressure on the remaining community pharmacy network and dramatically impact patient access and associated services.
